DEREK’S TESTIMONY

I only prayed one prayer, “Jesus, if it’s all true I want to get it from you, not from any human being.”

Some friends had been telling me about Jesus, reasoning with me late into the night – many nights in fact. Although I didn’t know it at the time they were doing something else as well - something dead sneaky. They were praying for me – praying that the occult influences I had allowed into my life would be bound, so that I would be able to see clearly.

My life at that time seemed satisfactory in all respects, and I certainly didn’t need religion, thank you. But I enjoyed our discussions and gave my friends a fair hearing. After a few weeks I had heard the Christian message in such detail that I could probably have explained it to someone else. I had only one question remaining, but it was a big one, Was it all true?

Hence my prayer. I figured that if nothing happened then I could go on my merry way, knowing that at least I had given God a chance. However, something did happen! Within about a week of asking I had a certainty birthed inside of me that came from no human being that it was all true. I knew like I knew like I knew that Jesus had died for me, that He had come back to life again, and that He was alive today and would be with me as my special friend for ever.

That all happened 27 years ago. A lot has changed in my life since then, but that certainty in the essential truth of the Christian message has never shifted. If anyone reading this would like to know that same kind of certainty, just ask for it as I did. He only awaits your invitation.
